RAWALPINDI, March 7: Reference a news item published in Dawn under the heading “PIA protests over new Doha flights” on March 7, the Civil Aviation Authority has clarified that the “correct position is that no violation has been made.”
The clarification said that “Qatar Airways has been permitted to operate two new flights according to the bilateral agreement signed between the countries.”
OUR STAFF REPORTER ADDS: The CAA had on Feb 26 through a notification, HQCAA/1641/41/ AT-3, communicated to Pakistan International Airlines that Qatar Airways summer 2003 schedule had been cleared with two flights per week to the additional point of Islamabad. However, when the matter was taken up by PIA with the prime minister, the CAA director-general disassociated himself from the decision saying it had been taken by someone else.
