Security beefed up

HANGU, March 6: Law enforcement agencies have adopted strict security measures to maintain law and order in the Hangu district during Muharram.

Police and FC troops have been deployed near mosques and Imambargahs to maintain sectarian harmony.

SECTION 144: District Nazim Pir Haider Ali Shah has under section-144 banned assembly of five or more persons, aerial firing, use of crackers, delivering of provocative speeches, publishing of objectionable material, use of loudspeakers other than for Azan, carrying of firearms except by personnel of law enforcement agencies, wall-chalking, pillion-riding, selling of petrol in jerrycanes/ bottles and occupation of roof-tops by civilians throughout the district to ensure law and order during the holy month.

This order will remain in force till March 16, 2003, said an official statement. Meanwhile, DIG Kohat Ghulam Mohammad has called upon the public to extend cooperation to the administration in the maintenance of law and order.—Correspondent
