KARACHI, March 6: The Sindh government is in contact with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other donor agencies for financial assistance in relief schemes for people of drought-affected areas.

This was stated by the Sindh minister for planning and development, Syed Shoaib Ahmad, while talking to the provincial chief of Unicef, Zeba Bukhari, who called on him at his office, said an official statement issued here on Thursday.

The minister said different schemes of constructing school buildings were being carried out in the province and in this regard the department of planning and development was in constant contact with district governments and parliamentarians elected from areas concerned.

He said schemes regarding setting up of educational institutions, especially schools, were being presented to the government for approval.

Ms Zeba said Unicef was implementing education and other development schemes, including those of providing clean drinking water in rural areas and setting up of basic health units.

She said Unicef, in collaboration with the Sindh government, would soon undertake a survey about children who had been inoculated so that future strategy could be chalked out.—APP
