PESHAWAR, March 5: Police claimed to have arrested two killers of three police officials on Wednesday and recovered an official pistol which they said was snatched by the accused from the Mathra SHO and later used to kill the cops.

Reportedly, three policemen were gunned down on Feb 21, in an encounter with villagers of Patwariyan in Mathra locality, on the city outskirts. An alleged outlaw Sadary was also killed in the shooting.

“Sadary’s father, Awal Khan, and a relative, Mohammad Ali, were arrested late on Tuesday night as they are actual murderers,” police officials claimed.

The police had sealed an FIR shortly after the incident, nominating 13 persons in the killing of three officials. The accused include Said Rehman alias Mairay; Naqashband and Hasan, sons of Gul Khan; Mohmand, son of Said Mir; Gul Khan and Awal Khan, sons of Akram Khan; Karamat, son of Sohbat; Azad and Gulab, sons of Abdul Manan; Shehryar, son of Hamayun; Hazrat Khan, son of Awal Khan; Aftab, son of Aurangzeb and Ibrar, son of Mohammad Akbar.

“We have arrested Awal Khan and Mohammad Ali after thorough investigation into the case,” police sources said. In Tuesday’s raid on their residence, the police had recovered a pistol of SHO Hussainzada, which was snatched by Awal Khan who later killed the policemen with it, they claimed.
