ISLAMABAD, March 5: The People’s Party Parliamentarians (Patriots) on Tuesday asked President Gen Pervez Musharraf to allow PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto to return to Pakistan.

Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal, a Patriots leader, told newsmen at the National Assembly on Tuesday that the group had been negotiating with President Musharraf for the return of Ms Bhutto, “however, no breakthrough has so far been achieved in this regard.”

Asked if the government would want the former prime minister to face National Accountability Bureau’s cases, he said the cases were the main hurdle in her return. “These cases can be withdrawn,” he said.
