KARACHI, Sept 30 The State Bank of Pakistan will issue a special Rs10 coin to mark 60 years of the People's Republic of China.

According to the SBP, all field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation will start issuing the commemorative coin through the exchange counter on Oct 1.

The coin containing 75 per cent copper and 25 per cent nickel is of white colour. Its dimension is 27.5mm and weight 8.25 grams.

The obverse side of the coin features a crescent and a five pointed star, with Islami Jamhoria inscribed in Urdu on top. Below the crescent and at the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward, there is the year of issue, 2009. The face value of the coin in numeral '10' and rupee in Urdu are written on the right and left sides of the crescent, respectively. A circle of small beads is all along the edge of the coin.

The centre of the reverse side of the coin bears flags of China and Pakistan and the inscriptions, “60th independence day celebrations of People's Republic of China” and “Long Live Pak-China Friendship” in Urdu.

The left and right sides contain the insignia of the year of independence and the year of anniversary. A circle of small beads is along the edge.

APP adds Meanwhile, Pakistan Post issued a commemorative postage stamp of Rs5 denomination marking the occasion.
