Murder case against PML-Q MPA

Published March 5, 2003

LAHORE, March 4: A PML-Q MPA and her four relatives were nominated on Tuesday in the murder of the nephew of a local PPP leader.

Habib told police his brother Yasir Gill, 22, the nephew of former Lahore PPP president Aslam Gill, was shot dead over a political rivalry outside his house in Naseerabad.

“He was attacked allegedly at the behest of MPA Parveen Sikandar.”

He alleged MPA’s family members had got victimized by the police on false charges.

However, the Model Town division police said that the police did not side with any of the party and just acted according to the law. “Both parties have been filing applications against each other.”

He said the parties had a clash some days before the October elections that left seven people injured and over a dozen vehicles damaged.

Quoting witnesses, Zafar, another brother of the deceased, said the latest attack was carried out by MPA’s three brothers —- Manzoor, Ghafoor and Afzal —- and nephew Amir.

The deceased was buried in a local graveyard after autopsy from the city mortuary. No arrest was made.
