KARACHI, March 4: In a major reshuffle after the takeover by the coalition in the province, three District Executive Officers (Education) have been transferred/posted at Karachi, Jacobabad and Naushehro Feroz.

A notification to this effect said that Anwar Ahmad Zai, the Additional Secretary in the Education Department and a grade-20 officer, has been posted as EDO in place of Muhammad Rais Alvi who has been transferred to Superior Arts and Commerce College (evening shift) as its principal. Mr Zai, who assumed his new office on Monday, would continue to hold the office of additional secretary.

Bashir Ahmed Shaikh, a grade-19 officer and head master of Govt Boys Secondary School No 1, Nazimabad, has been transferred to Jacobabad as EDO vice Niaz Ahmad Leghari, who has been posted as EDO of Naushehro Feroz.

Qamar Zaman, a grade-18 teacher at Govt Islamia College, Badin, Qamar Zaman, has been posted as District Officer (Literacy), Badin.

Prof Haroon Rashid, principal, Govt City College, has been posted as District Education Officer (Colleges), Karachi, and an earlier notification, issued about two weeks back, with regard to appointment of Mohammad Asghar Khan, principal, Superior Science College No 2, as DO (Colleges). Mr Haroon assumed the charges of his new office on Tuesday.

Commenting on the reshuffle, observers described it a major development, and recalled that the chairman of Sindh Textbook Board was replaced soon after the inception of the provincial government.

Meanwhile, on the recommendations of the Provincial Selection Board No. 1, the government has promoted about 23 grade-19 college teachers, including four females, to the post of professors (grade-20). They were posted at different colleges in Karachi, Sanghar, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Shahdadpur and Hyderabad.
