KARACHI, March 4: The Pakistan Army will gift a model park, proposed to be built at the old Sabzi Mandi on the University Road, to the people of Karachi, Corps Commander Lt-Gen Tariq Waseem Ghazi said during a briefing on Tuesday.

The model park is proposed on 38-acre of land and will be built on the most modern recreation concepts.

Its main components will be eastern gateway, entrance green, the main walkway, geyser fountain, wooded area, dogging and walking tracks, children’s play area, women’s park, park courtyard, botanical garden and lake, seasonal garden, food courts, students’ park, children activity park, public facilities area, gymnasium and an army museum.

The corps commander informed the participants about the proposed plan and the groundwork that has so far been carried out. He highlighted the hindrances being created by certain elements for their vested interests.

Gen Ghazi said that if the land was made available, the Army would complete the project in a record time like Bagh Quaid-i-Azam project. —PPI
