KARACHI, Nov 29: The Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah, on Thursday directed the officials concerned to issue driving licences under one-window facility and provide spacious and airconditioned waiting room to the visitors.

He issued the directive during a visit to the Driving Licence Branch in Clifton. He went round its various sections including record room, computer room etc and inquired about their working and performance.

He also made queries from the people present there about the stages and the time consumed in the preparation of a driving licence and directed that people should not face any problem in this regard.

He called for providing one window facility right from issuance of the form and payment of charges for a driving licence.

He also inaugurated the computer installed for the computerization of licences in the record room where licences issued during the period from 1960 to 1990 were recorded.

The IGP directed that instead of black and white picture of an applicant, his colour photograph be used on the licence.

He also visited the International Driving Licence Section and said the licence should be in a plastic card form.

He approved funds for updating the computerization work after which a new computerized system would be launched.

Syed Kamal Shah called for the renovation and redesigning of the licence branch and said the provision of maximum facilities to the people should be ensured.

He said the police department earned millions of rupees through the licence branch and as such in future proper funds would be earmarked for stationery, computerization and other expenditures.

The DIG, Traffic, Mohammed Yamin Khan, and head of the Driving Licence Branch, Ahfaz Hussain, were also present.—APP
