KARACHI, Nov 29: More than 150 development schemes costing millions of rupees, mostly relating to road construction, are under implementation in various Towns of the Karachi City Government under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.

This was stated in a briefing given to City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, on the occasion of inauguration of 5.5-kilometre-long roads constructed in Union Council Farooq Azam in North Nazimabad at a cost of Rs5.5 million under the KPP.

The Nazim was informed that most projects under the KPP had been completed but work on many more was still continuing and after their completion the condition of city roads would improve a lot.

He was told that the KPP was now part of the City Government and it was being carried out in consultation with the Town Nazims.

Speaking on the occasion, Naimatullah Khan said in future while constructing a new road, trees be planted on both sides and this should be considered as part of the project. He said this step would help promote the tree plantation culture, an essential need of the city.

In Block “I”, the Nazim inaugurated the development of Al-Noor Park within the precinct of Masjid Madina in cooperation with the mohallah people. He said this would be a model park of the area.

Later, the Nazim with City Government officials, elected representatives and area notables planted 50 trees. — APP
