KARACHI, March 3: The people of Karachi have had to take out their woollies as a cold wave has once again began sweeping the city.

The Met office told Dawn on Monday that northwesterly winds — known as Quetta winds in the common parlance — had blown across the city the whole day.

“They will continue to blow even on Tuesday accompanied by dust as well. As a result, temperature will remain low for some time,” Met office officials said.

On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 24 degrees and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The Met office staff said the winds, which had engulfed Sindh and Balochistan, were mainly without moisture. As a result, the humidity on Monday was two per cent only, they added.

The city’s weather would be windy and dusty, with a cold night on Tuesday, a weather forecast said, adds APP.

The city weather remained dry, windy and dusty on Monday. The dusty and dry winds dropped the mercury and people took out their woollies.

According to the Met office, the minimum temperature of the city would remain in the range of 12-14ºC on Tuesday.
