Controversy over CCB office site

Published March 3, 2003

RAWALPINDI, March 2: A controversy is brewing up regarding the location of an office for the newly-established Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB).

Well-placed sources told Dawn that the CCB management had been planning to construct the office building in the posh area of Chaklala-III, which would only be approachable for the influential and well-off people.

The residents living in the CCB limits said the proposed site was unsuitable as it was not easily accessible. The board office should be set up in the centre of the CCB limits where transport services are readily available, they added.

“Such a site will enable the dwellers of different localities, including Dhoke Charaghdin and Dheri Hassanabad, and other areas on the outskirts like Tariqabad, Janda Chichi and Marrir Hassan, to have easy access to the CCB office,” they said.

According to them, the board office should be located either in the Lalkurti area or on the Sarwar Road.
