TOBA TEK SINGH, March 2: Downpour and lightning disrupted the power supply and burnt over a dozen television sets here on Saturday night.

Lightning struck the antenna installed at the house of Mohammad Khan as a result of which his TV set was burnt. The house owner also received a shock as he was repairing the antenna’s wire. The TV sets of 12 nearby houses were also burnt by lightning.

A transformer was burnt due to lightning in Chak 286-JB near Janiwala, while a farmer who was passing through the street also received a shock and became unconscious.

In Chak 756-GB near Pirmahal, a buffalo was killed when an electric pole fell on it.

The roof of a house was collapsed due to heavy rain in Islampura.

According to the Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company, a number of meters and transformers were burnt due to rain both in urban and rural areas.

Sialkot: Both Sialkot and Narowal districts received heavy rain for the third consecutive day on Sunday.

It remained cloudy the whole day, and the cold winds made the weather chilly.

According to the Met office, both the districts received about 75mm rain during the last 24 hours.

Hail and drizzle was also reported in the afternoon in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Bhopalwala, Uggoki, Pasrur, Chawinda, Badiana, Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Baddomalhi, Narowal and surrounding areas.

The Met office has forecast more rains during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the three-day long heavy rains have badly damaged the potato crops.

SHEIKHUPURA: Like other parts of the country, the city and its adjoining areas also received heavy rain and hailstorm.

The rain which started on Friday evening continued until Sunday morning intermittently.

Localities like Muslim Ganj, Jandia Road, Sultanpura, Gloria Colony, Ghang Road were severely hit by rains.

In city areas, the inhabitants faced problems due to the deteriorated condition of the sewerage and drainage system.
