PESHAWAR, March 2: Provincial Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, who has been elected senator, on Sunday demanded that the government should vote in the United Nations Security Council against United States plan of attacking Iraq.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club, Prof Ibrahim said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, NWFP, would participate in the million march to be held in Rawalpindi on March 9 against the possible attacks.

Accompanied by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam leader Mufti Kifayatullah and National Assembly member Sabir Awan, he said people from the NWFP would participate in the march to pressure the US not to attack Iraq and the government to use its Security Council vote against the war plan.

Pakistan should not remain impartial on the issue, it must condemn the US and use its vote in this connection, he said.

He said the US wanted to seize the resources of the Gulf states. He said the US had destroyed Afghanistan not to abolish the so-called terrorism only but also to control the resources in Central Asia.

He warned that if Pakistan and the Muslim world did not stop the US from attacking Iraq, America might attack Iran and Pakistan in the next phase of its search for resources.

Mufti Kifayatullah said the Muslim world should provide alternative of the USSR to challenge the aggressive policies of the US.—PPI
