PESHAWAR, March 1: The Customs Intelligence seized a huge quantity of contraband from the secret compartments of a vehicle at Kund Khairabad checkpoint in Nowshera district on Saturday.

The Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence, Saeed Akram, acting on a tip-off, formed a three-member team, which during checking of a truck No FDY-5979 seized 397kgs of fine-quality hashish.

The contraband had been concealed in the secret compartments of the vehicle, the sources maintained.

The CI arrested the Sardar Ali, son of Ghaniur Rehman, of Mohmand Agency.

The contraband was being smuggled from the tribal area to down country and subsequently to another country, official sources told Dawn.
