TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 28: Over a dozen relatives of a kidnapped girl set on fire the house of an alleged kidnapper on Friday in Chak 323-JB, Trandi.
Rana Muhammad Arshad and his six armed accomplices, including two women, had come to the house of councillor Chaudhry Siddiq Jat two days ago and took away his daughter Tahira Yasmin in a car. They also tortured her and other women and made away with Rs30,000 in cash as well.
Arshad had contracted marriage with the girl after abducting her some four months back, but she returned to her house as a result of a panchayat decision. A suit for the cancellation of nikah had already been filed in a local court.
City police had registered an abduction case two days ago, but the whereabouts of kidnappers and the girl could not be found. On Friday, relatives of the girl came to the house of accused Arshad, threw kerosene on the house and torched it, gutting most part of the house and valuables worth thousands of rupees.
City police have registered a case against Muhammad Yousaf Jat, a cousin of girl, and his 11 companions.
