KARACHI, Feb 28: The district and sessions judge sentenced on Friday two bandits to serve rigorous imprisonment for 12 years on three counts.

Mohammed Imtiaz and Abdul Ghaffar were sentenced to a seven-year term for looting passengers of a bus on Dec 26, 2001, in Chakiwara.

The two were arrested red-handed following a shootout with the police.

The judge sentenced them to suffer a four-year term for attempting to kill the policemen during the shootout.

The two bandits were handed down a one-year RI for encountering the police.

The judge ordered them to pay a fine of Rs10,000 each. The defaulter on the payment would have to undergo an additional three-month term.
