LARKANA, Nov 28: A large number of villagers hailing from two villages of Ratodero on Wednesday protesting against the excesses of WAPDA staged a demonstration.
They were led by Sikandar Ali Joyo councillor and Malhar Joyo.
They staged a sit-in at main bus terminal and disturbed vehicular traffic for one hour and later sat outside the DSP’s office voicing against the ruthless attitude of the SDO WAPDA Abdul Sattar Memon.
The villagers alleged that on Tuesday they went to the office of the SDO along with the corrected power bills and asked him for the restoration of the power supply to their two villages — Sajjan Joyo and Sher Muhammed Joyo and removed the transformer for the last two months.
As soon the villagers were back to their villages certain law enforcing agency’s personnel along with WAPDA people came over there and started abusing the villagers. Reports reaching here said four villagers — Abdul Rashid Joyo, Ms Nasim Akhtar, Qadir Bakhsh and Abdullah were injured while four were picked and whisked away to Ratodero. Those arrested included — Azizullah, Moula Bakhsh and two others.
The villagers after negotiating with the DSP, who called the SDO but he did not turn up at all.
The arrested villagers were released later.
FIRE: The enraged flames of fire on late Tuesday night burnt to ashes the material of three shops of general store, timber and kiryana on Bakrani road when fire broke out from the electric short circuit.
The fire brigade arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire after two hours. Also fire on Wednesday reduced to ashes the rice crop owned by Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi former Sindh minister for local bodies in Waleed village when it caught fire.
CLERKS STRIKE: The clerks on Wednesday continued their pen-down strike pressing the education highups for the acceptance of their demands.
Safdar Mughal, the leader of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), told this correspondent on Wednesday that strike would continue till the acceptance of demands.
The Executive District Officer fiance on Wednesday held talks with the APCA leaders to resolve the matter and it had reportedly stuck to its guns while the EDO education, also briefed the EDO finance and supported his standpoint.
He (EDO finance) would submit report to district coordination officer. Meanwhile a rift has appeared in the Sindh employees alliance when the APCA and government Secondary Teachers Association exchanged hot words in the office of EDO education over promotions and postings.
The APCA would part ways with SEA, the sources said on Wednesday.
