Call for Punjabi Literature promotion

LAHORE, Feb 27: Provincial Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Chaudhry Shaukat Bhatti on Thursday stressed the need to promote the Punjabi culture through the works of noted mystic poets.

Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the ‘All Punjab Singing Competition’ held under the auspices of the Lahore Arts Council, the minister appreciated the mystic poets’ role in reforming many a life through their message of love and tolerance.

“We should benefit from the classical literary works of the great mystics, who explained the meaning of life and advocated respect for moral values.

Calling the Punjabi literature a meaningful study, Mr Bhatti urged the participants to develop the habit of studying literature to understand and appreciate various facets of life.

Later, the minister distributed prizes among the singers for their rendition of Heer Waris Shah, Saiful Malook and Bulleh Shah’s poetry.—APP
