Snowfall in Al Quds

Published February 27, 2003

AL QUDS, Feb 26: Snow poured down on the Middle East for a second straight day, shutting down businesses, schools and roads in Israel, Jordan and Lebanon.

The first snows of the year began late Monday and continued to wreak havoc in the region although they were expected to tail off later Wednesday.

Unlike Tuesday, when six people were reported dead from heavy rains in Syria, the only known casualty Wednesday was an Israeli soldier lightly injured when a storeroom’s roof collapsed from the weight of the snow.—AFP
