LAHORE, Feb 26: The Pakistan Railways police on Wednesday arrested a man in Raiwind station for using a fake currency note to get a seat reserved for Karachi.

The police said Arif, who belongs to Karachi, handed a fake currency note of Rs500 to the booking clerk, who immediately informed them. The police retrieved fake notes of Rs500 and Rs200 denomination, worth Rs10,200 from him.

Meanwhile, the police higher-ups have planned to set up a control room at the Lahore station to act immediately against robberies in trains.

It has been decided that wireless sets will be provided to the police guards in each train so that they have a link with the control room in case of any emergency. Subsequently, the control room in-charge will contact the divisional authorities to send a police team to the venue.

Meanwhile, the railways authorities are planning to introduce a new non-stop train on the Lahore-Faisalabad section from middle of March. The train will cover a distance within an hour and 40 minutes against an hour and 50 minutes by a non-stop train, Ghauri Express, running on the route.
