ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: The administrator of the United Nations Development Programme and chairman of the UN Devlopment Group, Mark Malloch Brown, is arriving in Pakistan for a one-day visit on Thursday before leaving for Afghanistan on Friday.

Speaking at a news conference here on Wednesday, United Nations Information centre director, Eric Falt, said the UNDP administrator is on his first visit to the region since the United Nations Secretary-General appointed him as chairman of the UN Development Group to lead an early recovery process in Afghanistan.

Mr Falt said the UNDP administrator is responsible for coordinating with heads of UN funds and programmes, including its executive committee members, UNICEF, WFP, and UNFPA.

Mr Brown will undertake the recovery process under the overall coordination of Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Lakhdar Brahimi.
