PTCL half year results

Published February 26, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25: Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) will unveil its earnings for the first half of its fiscal year on Thursday, a company spokesman said on Tuesday.

A Dow Jones Newswires poll of five analysts shows the company is expected to report net profit of Rs9.72 billion for July-December 2002, up 14 per cent from the year-ago period.

PTCL is the largest company listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange in terms of market capitalization and index weightage.

“The company has gone for a major line expansion which will be reflected in its revenues. And because it’s a leveraged company, lower interest rates will also improve the bottom line,” said Mohammed Sohail, research head at Investcap Securities.—Dow Jones Newswires
