Filtration plant razed

Published February 25, 2003

RAWALPINDI, Feb 24: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Monday razed an incomplete filtration plant and suspended an overseer as substandard material was being used in its construction.

The fraud came to light when the RCB executive officer, Khawaja Iftikhar Mir, during a routine inspection of the civic body’s projects, noticed the use of substandard material in the construction of a filtration plant on street no 13, Allama Iqbal Colony. He immediately ordered its demolition.

Mr Mir said the construction of the filtration plant was not up to the mark.

He also suspended the overseer, who was on duty at the site and ordered an inquiry into the fraud.

The senior cantonment engineer has been made the inquiry officer.
