HYDERABAD, Feb 24: The University of Sindh and Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences (NUAS), Japan, will sign an inter-linkage programme for benefit of scholars and students of the two institutions.

This was agreed upon between Sindh University vice chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, and Professor Yasuo Natori of NUAS, at a meeting held in Jamshoro on Monday.

Prof Natori, who is visiting the the Sindh university to deliver lectures, will also help the university to set up a nutrition laboratory.

The vice chancellor and the professor also discussed about facilities to be provided to research scholars, faculty members and students under the inter-linkage programme.

It was also agreed that the Sindh university would provide opportunities to the NUSA faculty staff to participate in research and teaching assignments at the university.

The Nagoya University will extend opportunities for visits to its campus of a short-term of three-week to a year.

The meeting also discussed a pilot project of students exchange programme of two universities.

To provide cross cultural understanding and appreciation between respective communities, the Sindh university would welcome an abroad group study programme during summer/winter holidays.

About tuition waiver scholarship, it was decided that the Nagoya University might provide two scholarships for a year in case of a graduate student and three years for an undergraduate student.

Similar arrangements may be announced by the SU on an annual basis for two students of the Nagoya University.
