KARACHI: Prof Safdar laid to rest

KARACHI, Feb 24: The principal of Government Degree College, Malir Cantt, Prof Safdar Iqbal Malik, was buried at the Federal B. Area graveyard on Monday.

The professor was found dead, with a bullet injury to his head, on his bed in his residence at the Pioneer Cottage, off University Road, on Sunday morning.

He had been posted at the college about seven years ago, said a senior college teacher.

A number of educationists and government officials, including secretary and additional secretary education, director of research and monitoring cell of the education department, EDO (education) and DO (colleges) participated in the funeral prayer and burials.

Expressing grief over the death and sympathy with the bereaved family, the education secretary, Nazar Hussain Mahar, said that dues and pensions, as admissible under the rules, would be handed over to the family in the shortest possible time.
