LAHORE The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday announced a provisional 30-man squad for the ICC World twenty20 to be played in April-May this year.

The squad includes seven players who have not been previously selected for a major international tournament. Controversial fast blower Shoaib Akhtar has been overlooked by the selectors.

While squad has been announced, the PCB has not yet announced the captain for the World Twenty20.

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt told DawnNews that former fast bowler Waqar Younis has been offered the job of coaching the national team. He added that interim coach Ijaz Ahmed will remain with the side as a fielding coach.

Intikhab Alam was the coach of Pakistan until the disastrous tour of Australia, after which Pakistan A team coach Ijaz Ahmed was handed the job for a two-match ODI series against England.

Pakistan are the defending champions of the ICC World Twenty20.
