3 PAF officers buried in Pindi

RAWALPINDI, Feb 21: Three of those killed in the Thursday’s plane crash, which left 17 dead including the PAF chief Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, were buried here, while the remains of the rest were taken to their home towns for burial.

Those buried here included Air Commodore Syed Javaid Sabir, Wing Commander Syed Tabassam Abbas and Squadron Leader Ahmed Yusuf. Two other officers were buried in Islamabad.

Earlier, a funeral prayer was held at Chaklala Airbase for those killed in the crash.

The victims coffins draped in national flag and adorned with bright red flowers were carried to the C-130 aircraft and transport vehicles for transportation to their final abode. They were presented guard of honour by the airforce personnel.

Bodies of Mushaf Ali Mir and his wife Mrs Bilqees Mir were flown to Lahore for burial.

Remains of Air Vice Marshal Abdul Razzaq were taken to Mianwali; AVM Saleem Nawaz to Islamabad; Air Cdre Rizwanullah Khan to Islamabad; Group Captain Aftab Cheema to Sargodha; Cpl Tech Amjad to Jhelum; Squadron Leader Abdul Rab to Kohat; Squadron Leader Mumtaz Kiani to Abbotabad; Senior Tech. Khan Mohammad to Chontra; Snr Tech Ashraf to Chakwal; Snr Tech. Ghazanfar to Gujrat; Tech Fayyaz to Swabi and Tech. Khush Qaddam Shah to Gilgit.

Friday was observed as a day of mourning in remembrance of the victims of the crash.
