Night Basant in Kasur

Published February 22, 2003

KASUR, Feb 21: Mela Basant-cum-urs of Hazrat Baba Imam Shah Bokhari (RA) started here on Thursday night.

Almost all rooftops in the residential and commercial areas were occupied by kite-flyers. Slogans of bo kata with high-pitched songs on deck and aerial firing were the features of the night celebrations. The kite-flyers also used batteries and generators to keep their rooftops illuminated during several power failures.

The district government had imposed a ban on the purchase, sale and use of metal and chemical wires.

But some kite-flyers used metal wires which disrupted the power supply throughout the night intermittently.
