KARACHI: VCOAS visits Malir Cantt

KARACHI, Feb 17: The vice chief of the army staff, General Mohammad Yousaf Khan, on Monday visited the Ordnance Corps Centre in Malir Cantonment and the Sindh Regimental Centre, Hyderabad.

According to the ISPR, the day-long engagements of the VCOAS began from Ordnance Corps Centre Malir Cantonment, where he attended the 8th Ordnance reunion and installed Major-General Owais Mushtaq Qureshi as the new Colonel Commandant.

Speaking to the officers and men on the occasion, the VCOAS commended the performance of the Ordnance Corps during recent escalation on the eastern borders.

He emphasised the need for improving mechanics of logistic support provided by the Ordnance Corps to the fighting area and services of the army during peace and war.

He advised the officers to adopt modern techniques and make full use of computer technology.

The outgoing colonel commandant, Maj-Gen Syed Usman Shah, the new colonel commandant, Maj-Gen Owais Mushtaq Qureshi, and Brig Akhtar Javed Warraich, the centre commandant, also spoke on the occasion.

The vice chief of the army staff then flew to the Sindh Regimental Centre, Hyderabad, and installed Major-General Mohammad Iqbal Khan as the colonel commandant of the Sindh Regiment.

Speaking on the occasion, the VCOAS lauded the sacrifices of Sindhi youths for the defence of the motherland and urged the officers and men to live up to the glorious traditions of the Sindh Regiment.

General Yousaf said the army was fully alive to its duty of defending the frontiers of the motherland.—APP
