Man survives 10 hours under mud

SAHIWAL, Nov 27: One of the three people survived even after staying under earthen mound for at least 10 hours here on Monday.

Ghulam Rasool, Shamsul Haq and Mahmood went inside a well to cleanse it when its walls collapsed. The three remained buried under heavy mud.

After a struggle of 10 hours, the villagers recovered Rasool and Haq dead while Mahmood was found breathing. He was admitted to the DHQ Hospital.

Police have completed the formalities under law.

SEWERAGE WATER: Stinky water has become a constant nuisance for people in several bazaars since the sewerage tanks choked a couple of days back.

Haidry Mohallah, Deepalpur bazaar, Pul bazaar, Pakpattan bazaar and Mazdoor Pully area on Tuesday remained flooded.

Meanwhile, complaints lodged with the local Municipal Comm-ittee, have so far proved futile.

Shopkeepers and citizens have urged the authorities concerned to come up with immediate rescue.

ARRESTED: Sahiwal police on Monday claimed to have arrested a farmer for giving protection to a proclaimed offender (PO) and helping his escape from police custody.

Acting on a tip-off, the team raided the house in Chak 82/6-R while the culprit, involved in cases of heinous crimes, fled with Riaz Ahmad.
