LARKANA, Feb 16: The leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, has opposed the proposed land allotments to people, displaced by the construction of Islamabad, in Garhi Yasin.

Speaking at a reception hosted by Kaneez Sakina Chughtai, general secretary, PPP, women wing, Larkana district, on Saturday night, Mr Khuhro said it was injustice with local people to rehabilitate the displaced people in Sindh.

Criticizing the Sindh government for the plan, he feared it would surrender to every demand of Islamabad.

The PPP leader said the opposition would take up the issue on the floor of the Sindh Assembly.

He said his party would continue to strive for the rights of Sindh, including the National Finance Commission Award and the Water Apportionment Accord.

Mr Khuhro criticized the Sindh government for its interference into affairs of district governments.

He said the PPP secured highest votes in the October election but it was not allowed to form a government.

He hoped party chairperson Benazir Bhutto would soon return to the country.

About the poor state of law and order in the province and recent clashes between Mithani and Bhutto clans in Larkana district, the PPP leader deplored the police failed to arrest the killers of the victim and control the situation.

The rival groups have lodged FIRs and counter FIRS with the Haideri police station and the police have arrested a man, Ali Raza Mithani, in this connection.

The police, on the compliant of Mohammad Ramzan Bhutto, the father of the deceased, registered a murder case against Shoaib Mithani, a police inspector, Ansar Mithani, a local PML-Q leader, Jawed Mithani, and Ali Raza Mithani.
