KOHAT, Nov 27: The intelligence agencies and the tribal administrations have warned the tribal elders and influential Afghans living in refugee camps of stern action if anybody was found providing shelter to members of Al-Qaeda or Taliban, sources confided to Dawn on Tuesday.
Rumours were rife here after the fall of Kabul to the Northern Alliance that some Taliban leaders and fighters had entered the Kurram Agency.
They were reportedly provided shelter by some influential tribal elders after they had surrendered their weapons to them.
The authorities had instructed Maliks to keep an eye on the activities of the leaders of Taliban, specially in Orakzai and South Waziristan Agencies and report immediately to the administration of any suspicious activity in their areas.
The intelligence agencies were apprehending illegal entrance of the members of Al-Qaeda and Taliban members who were tried to enter into Pakistan.
They also expected that fall of Taliban in Kandahar was imminent.
