SIALKOT, Feb 14: The Daska special judicial magistrate on Friday remanded an importer of the consignment which exploded at Sambrial dryport in police custody for six days.

Importer Aminuddin alias Irfan Memon of Karachi was arrested from the Karachi airport when he returned from the UAE a day before Eidul Azha.

He was brought to the court amid tight security. However, he was brought before newsmen. He was shifted to an unknown place for interrogation.

Sambrial police claimed that Amin had imported two containers worth UAE dirhams 111,000 using the name of a Lahore-based importer, Shahbaz Noor. They blew up at the Sambrial dryport on Feb 4, killing 17 people and injuring more than 35 others.

Bomb defused: The bomb disposal squad defused a bomb in Kotli Sulehrian village near Sabzpir in Pasrur tehsil on Eid day.

Official sources said the bomb, weighing two pounds, was planted under the wall of only Eidgah of the village. Some people found the bomb and informed the Sabzpir police. Bomb disposal squad was called in from Sialkot which defused the bomb.
