Eid teaches lesson of altruism: Shah

PESHAWAR, Feb 11: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that Eidul Azha teaches us the lesson of altruism and sacrifice as well as total and complete submission before Allah Almighty.

The day, he added, reminds us the great sacrifice, offered by Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) and his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (A.S), which got recognition by Allah Almighty and was made obligatory on every capacity-holding Muslim till the Doomsday.

In his Eid message being celebrated on Wednesday with religious fervour and enthusiasm, the governor said: “The teachings of Islam and the orders from the God, hold many aspects concerning social reformation and mass-welfare, which, if adopted in letter and in spirit, not only ensure a just, peaceful and welfare society but it also becomes a source of individual benefits fro the faithful, in this World and the Hereafter.”

The governor said, “the philosophy behind sacrificing animals on Eidul Azha does not mean merely slaughtering animals rather it carries the wish to obey the orders and get the pleasure of God Almighty”.

This sacred day of Eid, he maintained, demanded of us to strengthen our unity, and keep away from indulging ourselves in sectarian, social or regional prejudice.

“Let be broad-minded and inspire fraternity, affection and brotherhood to make our society more happy and prosperous,” he emphasized, adding, “we must strive to alleviate poverty, disseminate education and extend a helping hand to the poor and the needy.”

“Every of our step must be towards removal of imbalances from society,” he said.

The governor, while extending Eid greetings to the nation, has also prayed that Good Almighty may accept the sacrifices of all the Muslims. —APP
