MIRPURKHAS, Feb 10: The deputy chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, has said that the United States is extremely close to India and US Secretary of State Colin Powell has recently warned that the map of Arab countries would be changed soon.

He said this while speaking to party workers at the Jamait-ul-Huda Madressah Satellite town, on Sunday.

He said that the government should not have high hopes from the US.

He said that Mr Powell in his statement at the Un Security Council had categorically said that the Iraqi embassy was the centre of Al Qaeda, which makes it clear that his statement was not against Iraq but against Pakistan.

He advised Gen Musharraf not to insist on the LFO because an unending tussle will start between the opposition and the government.

He alleged that the government was allotting costly land and plots to the retired and in-service officers at throwaway prices.

He warned that if this continued: “ We should be prepared to face a 1971-like situation.”

KPP: During the third phase of the Khushhal Pakistan Programme, the government has allocated Rs135.7 million for Tharparkar district, says a handout issued on Sunday.

The money will be spent on 43 schemes of metalled roads and water supply.

INTERNET: Sindh Minister for Information Technology Shabbir Ahmed Qaimi has said that every town of Sindh would be connected with the world through the Internet.

He was speaking at a launching ceremony to connect Jhuddo with the Internet on Sunday.

The minister said that all small towns would also have access to the internet.
