GUJRANWALA, Feb 9: Two maids of PPP slain city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun were arrested on Sunday for taking away cash and ornaments worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from his house in Cantonment two days ago.

Humayun had employed in his house young girls Sumaira Bibi and Nasira Bibi a few years ago. On Friday last, the widow of late Humayun had gone to her neighbours, and on her return she found both the maids missing. They also took away with them ornaments worth Rs400,000, Rs200,000 in cash and other valuables. She reported the matter to police who along with the relatives of the accused started searching them.

On Sunday, Model Town police raided a local hotel and arrested both maids with the booty. Police claimed the accused had confessed to their crime. However, they said that Humayun’s widow would scold them on minor issues.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

Meanwhile, Model Town police claim to have arrested a woman drug-trafficker, Rasulan Bibi, with one kilogram heroin from Shaheenabad locality.

A case has been registered.

ARRESTED: Tetley police on Sunday claim to have found the clue to the murder of an elderly woman and arrested three accused, including a woman.

The daughter-in-law of deceased Irshad Bibi had allegedly developed relations with Sajid and Javed Iqbal of the same village in the absence of her husband who went to Saudi Arabia a few months ago. The deceased admonished her and threatened that she would inform her husband. Some two weeks ago, she along with her lovers stoned the old woman to death at night. Later, she posed that some unidentified dacoits had killed Irshad Bibi on resistance during a dacoity bid.

However, police continued investigation and with the help of neighbours unravelled the mystery behind the murder. During interrogation, the arrested accused confessed to their crime.

A case has been registered against them.
