PESHAWAR, Feb 8: The Crime Investigation Department (CID), along with an other intelligence agency personnel, arrested a former British immigration official and a senior officer of the auditor-general office, Peshawar, on the charges of possessing counterfeit dollars.

A CID team raided a the house in the Aasia Gate area, Circular Road, on Friday afternoon and arrested former British immigration officer Mohammad Raza Khan, son of Colonel (retd) Abdur Rasheed Khan, a resident of Defence Colony, Lahore, and a senior official of the AG office, Peshawar, Sabir Hayat, son of Firdos Khan, a resident of Swabi, official sources told Dawn.

The CID recovered 100 fake dollar notes of 100 denomination from each accused, they maintained.

During the interrogation, Mohammad Raza Khan told the CID men that he purchased the fake dollars from Bara, Khyber Agency, to smuggle them to Lahore. While, Sabir Hayat said that he was trapped by Mohammad Raza Khan to purchase the fake currency before Eid to mint some money, the sources said.
