FAISALABAD, Feb 7: The transport company whose officials were beaten up by police agreed to reconcile on Friday after the assurance of district police officer that legal action would be taken against the policemen.
Eight constables in plain clothes snatched keys, beat black and blue driver Shahid and conductor Asif besides damaging a Metro Transport Service bus near the Police Lines on the issue of fare.
This incident resulted in blockade of a city road causing traffic jam.
The SHO of Gulberg police, on the DPO’s direction, recommended the authorities to take legal action against the constables for taking law into their hands.
POLICE EFFICIENCY: Faisalabad police claim to have arrested 256 proclaimed offenders, 213 court absconders and 17 hardened criminals in a special campaign in January.
A police press release here on Friday claimed that a massive crackdown was launched in city and rural areas of district on the orders of DPO.
It said Jaranwala police arrested Asghar Ali, alleged killer of seven people. An anti-terrorism court had handed down death sentence to his seven accomplices.
Thikriwala police arrested three highwaymen who shot and injured a policeman and 13 hardened criminals.
Samundri city police arrested 32 proclaimed offenders and Ghulam Muhammadabad police 32 court absconders. Bahlak police arrested 21 proclaimed offenders.
