RAWALPINDI, May 6: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain will make a telephonic address to a public meeting at Committee Chowk Sunday Bazaar on Tuesday evening.
This was said by Saif Yar Ali Khan, member Rabita Committee MQM, who was accompanied by Zahid Malik, Mian Attique and all contesting candidates of MQM in Rawalpindi. The MQM leaders said election campaigns in Punjab were running freely, while the three remaining provinces (Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) were facing bomb blasts and restricted electioneering.
“The MQM, Pakistan People’s Party and the Awami National Party are the target of terrorist groups, but they will not boycott the elections. MQM observed three days of mourning after every terrorist attack on its camp office and on the fourth day, restarts its election campaign,” Saif Yar Ali Khan said.
He said these elections were difficult as the party had lost many workers in the past few days, adding that, “MQM will not be afraid of these tactics to stop it from entering the electoral arena.”
He said people would vote for MQM as the party wanted to bring change in the country. “We tried to change the feudal mindset and bring educated people in the assemblies who will raise the voice of the common people under the leadership of Altaf Hussain,” Mr Khan said. —A Reporter
