KARACHI, Nov 26: Pakistan will send five boxers to Azerbaijan next year for the Professor Anwar Chowdhry International Boxing Tournament, an official said Monday.

“Azerbaijan holds a boxing event to recognize the services of Pakistan’s Professor Chowdhry who is also the president of International Amateur Boxing Association,” said Ali Akbar Shah, secretary Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation (PAAF).

The event will be held in Baku from March 5-15 next year.

“The first five editions of the event were for cadet and junior players but the next event will be of senior players,” he informed.

Over 20 countries from Asia and Europe are expected to take part in the event.

“The event would give our boxers much-needed exposure before next year’s South Asian Federation Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games,” Shah said.
