Teenage girl burnt; house burgled

RAWALPINDI, Feb 4: A teenage girl was burnt critically while setting logs alight in her house at Kahuta on Tuesday, police said.

Iffat Bibi, 14, was trapped in flames when she sprinkled kerosene oil on logs and showed a match stick. On hearing her screams, her mother, Nusrat, rushed to her rescue and extinguished the fire. The victim was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital with more than 50 per cent burns.

HOUSE BURGLED: Some burglars broke into the house of an armyman in Chaklala and made off with cash and valuables, police said on Tuesday.

Zaheer Ahmed, serving with 10 corp, found the locks of his house broken and households scattered in room after he returned from his native town on Monday. Upon listing the items, he found Rs30,000 in cash and other valuables stolen, the police said.

In another incident, three persons entered a shop in Banni police area and snatched telephone cards and cash from its owner, Sohail Ahmed, at gunpoint.

The robbers escaped after locking him inside the shop, the police said.

Meanwhile, two cars (LXZ-8317) and (RIU-1888) were stolen from Civil Lines and New Town, respectively, the police said.
