Teachers’ contract extended

SIALKOT, Feb 4: The education department has extended the contract of all science and mathematics teachers performing duties in high and elementary schools for boys and girls throughout the Punjab.

This was stated by Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) provincial information secretary Abdul Rashid Nagra here on Tuesday.

Quoting a notification issued by the education department, Mr Nagra said all SSMTs and SMTs, whose contract expired on Dec 31, 2002, have been directed to continue their duty at the places of posting till further orders.

He said that PTU central president Raja Zafeer Ahmad Sitti had approached education department’s additional secretary (schools) Ghulam Abbas Sargana and apprised him of the problems the teachers community had been facing.

Meanwhile, on the recommendation of the departmental promotion committee, the Punjab governor has promoted headmaster of the Government Boys High Schools (Bogray), Daska, Abdul Rashid Nagra, to BS 18 on regular basis.

Mr Nagra has been posted senior headmaster of the school.
