KARACHI, Feb 3: Secretary General of Jamat-i-Islami and central leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Ammal (MMA) Syed Munawar Hassan has urged the OIC to play its due role to avert a possible US attack on Iraq.

Speaking at a press conference at Idare Noor-i-Haq here on Monday, he said the OIC should convene a meeting to discuss the issue.

This time, the stance of Iraq is justified and Muslim countries must support Iraq.

Pakistan and Syria, who are members of Security Council, should also play their role, he added.

The JI leader was also critical of registration of Muslim citizens in the US.

He said that the MMA did not want to destabilise the present government as it wanted that democracy should flourish in the country.

He said MMA had continuously kept a liaison with the government and the ruling parties.

The MMA, he said, would continue to play its democratic role. It would raise its voice against injustice to people, he added.
