KARACHI, Nov 26: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation has warned the city’s shopping complexes and Eid shopping stalls not to put up extra lights than their approved electrical load as it is overloading the electricity distribution network during the evening peak hours and causing power failures, a KESC spokesman said here on Monday.

He said special teams of the KESC and AMTs would check the city’s commercial areas after Iftar and those found using unauthorized load would be penalized. They might also face disconnection and arrest.

Besides, these connections were also proving hazardous and the last fire incident in the Khalid Cloth Market, Liaquatabad, was caused by the Kundas being used by the garment stalls, the spokesman said. —APP
