HYDERABAD, Jan 31: The Pakistan BTech Engineers’ Council, at a meeting held here the other day, appealed the provincial authorities to regularize the services of 600 employees of the water management wing, agriculture department.

The meeting deplored that although vacancies were available in the district government yet the employees were not being adjusted.

It said that the salaries of the employees had been withheld for the last four years.

The meeting was presided over by the secretary-general of the council, Mohammad Haroon Memon.

Meanwhile, in an appeal to the president and prime minister, the chairman of the council, Syed Abid Hussain Bukhari, demanded change in the curricula of technical education, according to requirements and challenges of 21st century.

He also demanded that the Pakistan technological council should be set up and BTech graduates and diploma-holders, working in different departments of Sindh, should be given promotions in grade-17, 18 and 19.

He also appealed to the government to establish technical universities in Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur.
