QUETTA, Jan 30: The Zarghoon Town Council rejecting the Provincial Finance Commission Award has demanded its revision.

The Town Council Nazim, Abdul Qahar Wadan, criticizing the distribution of funds through the PFC award, demanded due share.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday along with Naib Nazim Abdul Khaliq Hazara, he said that the federal government had abolished octroi and imposed General Sales Tax, and had assured the local bodies in Balochistan that they would be given fund from the GST.

He said: “We were given only Rs11.6 million against our share of Rs40 million.”

The Nazim said that even after a lapse of six months the provincial government had not approved the budget of the town council, whereas the town had passed its budget in June last. He demanded that budget should be approved immediately.

Regarding the construction of a market and a bus stand project, he said that the district government had nothing to do and could not invite tenders for initiating the projects.

He claimed that the sites for the projects were the properties of Chiltan and Zarghoon towns. “We would not allow district government to execute the projects,” he said.
