HYDERABAD, Jan 30: The Taluka City Council (TCC) on Thursday called upon the chief minister, the Sindh governor, and the district Nazim to wind-up the inquiry against 814 women school teachers being conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Iqbal Qaimkhani tabled a resolution in the session regarding it.

He said that once again 814 women teachers were being blackmailed and harassed under a sixth consecutive inquiry.

He stated that 722 teachers had been cleared in previous inquiries, while cases against the rest were pending disposal.

In another resolution, the TCC members called for providing powers to the EDO, Revenue, to dispose of cases of evacuee properties in the city.

He said that before devolution the cases of evacuee properties including the verification, survey numbers, and proprietary rights were looked after by the deputy commissioner.

He said that the EDO, Revenue, however, was not given powers to dispose of such cases.

The resolution of Iqbal Qaimkhani, pertaining to tabling of a no-confidence motion against the Naib Nazims of union councils, was also adopted by the session.

He said that an amendment should be made in the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO) 2001 and the same procedure should be applied that has been adopted for union council and Taluka Nazims so that no Naib Nazim could be targeted because of the personal likes and dislikes of union council Nazims.

Rana Siddiqui, in her resolution, demanded a ban on the sale of “gutka” and “mainpuri” as a large number of youths had been affected with serious diseases as a result of this habit.

The session also adopted the resolution of Ali Akbar Vighiyo regarding a ban on the exhibition of obscene films and carom boards.

Taranum Naz tabled a resolution condemning the performance of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

She said that womenfolk had to face difficulty in the morning hours when the pressure of gas was too low.
