PESHAWAR: The elders of Kukikhel tribe belonging to different localities and political parties in Khyber Agency have demanded of the authorities to appoint judges as returning officers in Federally Administered Tribal Areas as the political administration doesn’t want to implement the Political Parties Act.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Monday, they said that all political parties had nominated candidates for the upcoming polls in Khyber Agency but an independent candidate was violating the code of conduct and the administration was reluctant to take action against him.

Shahji Gul, an independent candidate in the tribal region, was trying to buy votes by spending huge money that created unrest among the other candidates, Malik Ikramullah Jan Afridi, general secretary of Pakistan Muslim League-N in Khyber Agency, told the press conference.

Flanked by candidate for NA-45 Amin Zada Afridi of PTI, Said Akbar of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and Manzoor and Advocate Asad Afridi of Qawmi Watan Party, Advocate Taj Mahal Afridi and others elders of Kukikhel, he dispelled the impression that his tribe was supporting the independent candidate.
